This article provides an overview on how to import and export a project into PROJECT in a box. It applies to all current versions of PIAB.

You will first need to obtain the latest version of the Datatool.

  • Log to your customer page
  • Select the Resources Tab and download the current version of Data Tool 2.5 (file name:piabdatatool-2.5.1.001.exe). This is a self extracting installation of the datatool.

There are also 2 sample projects located on the Resources pages.

  • town-hall-extension-2.5.1.001.zip. This is an example PRINCE2 2009 project that can be imported for demonstration purposes into your PROJECT in a box system using the PIAB Data Tool. It is designed for PROJECT in a box version 2.5 and above (including Community Edition and Personal Editions). To use it, download the zip file and extract the contents to a folder on (for instance) your C: drive.
  • CRM-Example-Project-2.1.0.001.zip This is designed for PROJECT in a box installations prior to 2.5.

  2. Choose file/open project from file
  3. Browse to the location where you extracted town-hall-extension-2.5.1.001.zip and select piabexport.xml. This will load the example project into the datatool.
