What is PROJECT in a box Planner?

'PROJECT in a box Planner' is a lightweight tool for creating, editing and sharing project plan scheduling information.

Is it free?

Yes, it is free for personal and commercial use.

How do I get it?

Simply register to download or upgrade PROJECT in a box Community Edition, and Planner is included with it.

Who is it for?

Planner is intended to fill the gap between writing simple plans on a piece of paper and using traditional, heavyweight, feature-rich planning tools.

What does it run on?

Planner is a .NET Windows Forms applications, so you need a Windows PC with the .NET Framework installed.

The planner has a requirement for Microsoft .NET framework v3.5 to be installed on the system. For Windows XP and Windows 2003 platforms you will need download and apply it manually from here http://www.microsoft.com/net/default.aspx

NB Windows 7 and Windows 2008 plaforms already include .NET framework v3.5

Is it portable?

Yes. By default it is installed as a conventional app i.e. in your 'Program Files' folder. But you can also install it onto a USB key or other removable device and switch it to 'Portable' mode to keep your app, configuration and plans together in one place.

Is help and training available?

Yes. We provide help in the form of online training videos. Please see the Planner Help page for details.

Can I share my plans?

Yes. You can either provide your plan '.spn' files to your colleagues and they can install Planner too, or you can export your Gantt chart and task lists as images that can be pasted into other documents e.g. emails or Word documents.
