KB0000210 Server Install Checklist

This is a checklist to perform after a new installation. It is not an exhaustive test of the product, but verifies that all the main server features have been enabled.

# Item Done
1.1Have you planned a server pattern e.g. the default single server or a distributed pattern? (see KB0000150 Server Setup Patterns)
1.2Are the server roles configured (to use.NET Framework, IIS and ASP.NET)? See KB0000410 Windows Server 2016 Roles
1.3Is a SQL Server instance available, locally or remotely?
1.4Is the 'Windows Search' service running (For other choices, please see KB0000010 Configuring Search)
1.5Do you have the settings for a valid SMTP server to use?

IIS Settings

# Item Done
2.1Does IIS contain the application 'piabws'?
2.2Is the IIS application set to use HTTPS?
2.3Is the Directory Security for 'piabws' set to Anonymous or Windows Authentication? (to match your intended authentication scheme, see KB0000110 Using Integrated Windows Authentication). N.B. We recommend you use Anonymous authentication first, then switch to Windows Authentication later because the Windows App and Browser App must be configured correctly or you will have trouble logging in.
2.4Are the permissions set to r/w for the 'piabws' application user on specific application folders? (see KB0000180 Server Folder Permissions)
2.5Are the IIS MIME Types correct to serve files such as Office 2010 files e.g. .docx, .xlsx and the PROJECT in a box Planner .spn files? (see KB0000350 IIS MIME Types)

Other Server Settings

# Item Done
3.1Is the PIAB 'Admin' user's password reset to a strong value?
3.2Have you chosen a search scheme (for options see KB0000010 Configuring Search)
3.3If using 'Windows Indexing Service' for searching, does the Windows Indexing Service contain a catalog called 'piabdoc'? (see KB0000270 Configuring the Indexing Service)
3.4If using 'Windows Search', is the PROJECT in a box 'doc' folder included in the search? (see KB0000260 Configuring Windows Search)
3.5Does your SQL Server instance now contain a database called 'piab'?
3.6Does the ASP.NET application user have DBO privileges on the 'piab' database?

PROJECT in a box Application Settings

# Item Done
4.1Have you applied a licence to the PIAB server? You should have been given the option to do this on install, otherwise you can get your licence from the 'PROJECT in a box Server' program, or by logging into your customer page on the main website.
4.2Have you set the SMTP settings for notifications and other email functions? (see KB0000030 Configure Email (SMTP) on the Server)
4.3Have you set up a Windows Scheduled Task for daily notifications? (see KB0000300 Configuration Notifications Using piabtriggerwatch)
4.4Have you switched to 'Integrated Windows Authentication'? (see KB0000110 Using Integrated Windows Authentication) We always recommed 'Integrated Windows Authentication' in a production environment.
4.5Have you set up clients for deployment via the Browser App? (see KB0000060 Client Deployment Overview)

Other Issues

# Item Done
5.1Have you worked out a backup scheme? (see KB0000025 Configuring Backup)
