Many of the PRINCE2™ products on the market claim to provide guidance on the methodology, but when you delve a bit deeper you discover that they provide 'their interpretation' on what is required, often rephrased and using different terminology to avoid copyright issues. What does the P2 Guidance Module contain?

The module contains over 25,000 words of AUTHENTIC material and the Glossary licensed directly from the PRINCE2™ manual. This has been arranged into over 70 topics covering all the processes, sub-processes, components and techniques each delivered as an easy to read or print HTML page. In addition to this authentic material we have been through 50 of these topics and provided a quick links section which takes you to related topics enabling you to quickly browse the material. Every direct reference in the text to another topic has also been cross referenced to further enhance your navigation capabilities.

We have helpfully provided a sample of the P2 Guidance module here for you to download and try. This version contains some sample entries and is limited to just a few hundred words of authentic content but you should quickly get the picture. Save the P2GM sample zip file (75Kb) to your hard drive or simply open it from the link and then just double click to open the P2GM-stub.chm file itself. Alternatively register and download the free Community Edition which now comes with all the sample P2 Guidance module working context sensitively as standard making it much easier to upgrade to the full version when you are ready.

Using the P2 Guidance Module

The P2 Guidance module is delivered as a Professional Microsoft help file so that if you wish you can use it standalone as a reference work but when used alongside Professional or Community Editions it really comes into its own as it works context sensitively. For example if you are working on Updating a Business Process (SB3) all you have to do is press F2 on your keyboard and the P2 Guidance module will open directly to that page to give you immediate access to the guidance on the sub process and links to relevant sections such as the Business case Component.

Hotlinks We have helpfully linked cross references in the text directly to the associated topic. These links are shown in normal hyperlink format and you simply click on the link you require and that page will open. To navigate back to your previous page use the back button on the P2GM help menu bar.
Contents Clicking on the contents tab in the left pane of the P2GM will show the full contents. Use the tree navigator to roll up or down the topics and simply click on a topic to open it in the right hand pane.
Index Clicking on the index tab in the left pane of the P2GM will show the full topic list sorted alphabetically. Simply type into the dialogue box to go to your required topic or use the scroll bar to browse. Once you have found the topic you want to explore simply click on its title to open it in the right hand pane.
Searching Clicking on the search tab in the left pane of the P2GM will open the search dialogue. Simply type in your search term and the P2GM will list all topics which contain your terms. Browse the list to pick a topic and then click on its title to open it in the right hand pane. Instances of your search term with be highlighted in the opened topic.

For fully flexible navigation and optimum guidance, use a combination of the navigation techniques and you will be amazed how quickly you can get to the information you need, those tricky days spent with the manual open on your desk will seem lake a distant memory.

P2 Guidance module is licensed at Ł25 per user install. Making it cheaper than the PRINCE2 manual and hugely more effective for the PROJECT in a box user as it is immediately accessible and infinitely more easily navigated.
