Welcome to the February edition of the PROJECT in a box newsletter.  This month we are reviewing the version 2.4 release and the new website, as well as looking forward to the Agile method template.

Also details of the 2008/09 Year end offer.

New Version 2.4 Released

Version 2.4 provides an extensive range of additional features with three main themes:

• Browser Version enhancements
• Email package support
• Report publishing capability

In addition a number of minor improvements have also been included of specific interest being support of plan data from OpenProj.

Traditionally users have been able to view documents, and published reports from either the Browser client (Enterprise Hub) or the .NET client (deployed software) but have only been able to make changes or add new content from the .NET client.  This has sometimes restricted Mac, Linux or mobile device users from fully contributing to the project, but not any longer.

With Version 2.4 the browser client will provide additional capabilities for Manager and Team users:

• Navigate the project in Process mode
• Check out, modify or distribute and check in files under the control of the permissions model
• Add new project content including files, emails and linked sources to share with your colleagues
• View published reports from the new Report Library
• Browse the all new team console 

These capabilities give users a real flexibility around choice of platform they use with general day to day project working available from Browser on any Operating System or even portable devices like smart phones.  In addition Manager users can produce real time dashboards or project reports from the Browser client enabling them to get a live status on your project from even your mobile phone.

The Enterprise Hub has been given a fresh new look which can be extensively personalised to fit into a corporate scheme.  And we haven't forgotten the view only Browser users, they still retain the easy to use single page summary of project activity but now have access to the improved Reports Library and Team Console as well.

New Website Launched

A great many of you have said how much you liked our old website and that we provided lots of information and didn't force you to register if you wanted to view brochures or tours.  However the site had grown a bit too big and become difficult to navigate.

So we thought you deserved something better and after several months of work it was launched last week.  A much improved navigation and invaluable search tool should help you find what you want and we have also added more content to tours and the document library that we know are popular destinations.

In recognition of our already extensive methodology  support and anticipation of our new Methodology releases this section has increased prominence and a page per method.

We firmly believe a website should be a live document  so if you have any suggestions pr observations just let us know.

Agile Method in development

We are now licensed resellers of the Atern Agile Method from the the DSDM consortium and have started work on developing an official Method template for this.

The new Atern Method Template will be provided for free in both Community Edition and the full PROJECT in  a box and will be released to coincide with the launch of Community Edition 2.0.

If you have experience of Atern and would like to be involved in Beta testing or reviewing the new method please contact us with your details.

Year End Offer

Year end is always a difficult time with lots of work to finish and budgets to set for the new year. But it is also an excellent time to think about investing in PROJECT in a box as we repeat our annual Year End Offer.
