Host your own methods Products overview

You don't have to use one of our PRINCE2 approaches.  You can  extensively modify these to match your organisation's needs or alternatively use the system to host your entirely customised methodology.

PROJECT in a box can support an unlimited number of methodologies at a time.  This gives you unprecedented power to customise your approaches and focus them in to match the particular requirements of different types of projects, different customer groupings, different languages etc.

Professional Edition always comes as standard with P2ABC our set of scaled PRINCE2™ methodologies (CompleteP2 and then BasicP2 and AccessP2 for your smaller projects).  These are available for you to copy and modify to fit to your organisation or alternatively you can create your own custom methodology and use this.

A PROJECT in a box methodology (Method Template) includes all navigation diagrams, process and stage structure, Management and Specialist Product (document) structures and order, template files, guidance documents, Template library and the navigation menu.  This gives you a huge amount of flexibility about what you include in your methodology, how it is structured, delivered and presented consistently to the users.

The products that make up the PROJECT in a box family with respect to custom methods are previewed here below.  For more details on each product simply follow the links.

PROJECT in a box Server hosts all your project files and data as well as permissions and licence information.

Your users can connect to the deployment page provided with the server to download and install clients on their PC or to run from portable devices allowing them to connect and share access to permitted projects.

Priced at just £500 Server also provides the tools you need for integration with other business systems and a copy of Method Manager for customising your Method templates.

Customers hosting their own customised methods are recommended to have a second server to act as a test platform for changes made to the method templates.

A Team licence provides users with the full range of project working tools. Covering 75% of the capability of the Manager licence for just 25% of the price it represents great value.

Security settings and a permissions model control which projects users can access and what they can do within each one including viewing, modifying or adding documents.

Other high value features include Outlook, MS Project and other MS Office integration as well as searching and personal audit trails.

Priced at just £75 per user it offers a great value way to equip your project team members with the tool set they need to work on projects rather than manage them.

Enterprise Hub provides a very simple interface onto the projects held on your server.

Again security settings and the permissions model control which projects users can access via this browser based interface. Here users are restricted to only viewing the project information (Read Only access) although they can contact colleagues, search and view reports published by the PM.

Enterprise Hub is a true Browser based client and also provided RSS news feeds and a discussion forum to help you promote project management development in your organisation.

Enterprise Hub licences are avialable in packs of ten for £100 and this allows extended members of your project team, suppliers, partners and clients to keep in touch with the live project very cost effectively.  This makes it a great aid for the larger organisation with lots of dispersed project engagement into the organisation.

Method manager provides you with a windows wisiwig interface for making changes to your project method templates.

Method manager can be used to make small evolutionary modifications to existing method templates or even create new custom ones from scratch without any technical IT knowledge.

Method Manager is entirely form and menu driven allowing you to put the control of your methods in the hands of your expert rather than a techie.  With these tools you can own your methods yourselves and don't have to come back to us the vendors every 5 minutes to keep your methods current.

A Method manager licence was £1,000 but we are now including them free with each Server licence you purchase.

Services

Of course not all of our customers want to produce their own methods which is why we can offer you this as a service at two levels:

  1. Existing Customised Method - provide us with all the details of your existing project management methodology and we will produce a Method Template and migration plan to help you get your existing projects transferred into Professional edition.  Relatively quick process where the methodology(s) are well bedded in and documented.

  2. Methodology Development - our consultants are experienced in developing and implementing project management methodologies in many business areas and we can assist or lead your methodology development process for you.  Often as external lead helps add impetus to this process and can result in a broader review of the approaches available.

We quote for these services depending on each particular customer's requirements and these have usually ranged from £500 to the order of £5,000.

Supporting Project Migration

Users upgrading from either Community Edition or Personal Version can purchase a mix of PROJECT in a box licences to take advantage of the additional benefits and transfer their existing projects with them.

For Personal Version users this is just by a simple licence upgrade (buy a Server licence and swap your licence key) and then other team and manager licence users will be able to connect to your server.

For Community Edition users you will need to buy a package of licences as show above and once you have created a server you can use the Data Tool utility we provide to migrate your PRINCE2 projects to your Professional edition so they can be shared with your colleagues.
